Solana passed BNB Chain for neobank volume in August, by less than 1%

Solana carried $4.56M of neobank volume in August against BNB Chain's $4.47M — the first month it has led, on a margin of $93,163. Solana has gone from 6.1% of neobank volume in December to 38.5% in August, and one venue is 94% of the August move.

Solana's share of neobank volume: 6.1% in December → 22.5% in July → 38.5% in August. Volume up 101.2% in a single month.

The margin is $93,163

That is 0.8% of Solana's own total. One large depositor moving the other way in the last week of August would have reversed the result.

We are reporting it because the trajectory is real and steep, not because the crossing itself is robust. BNB Chain did not decline — it was flat, down 0.6%. Solana doubled past it.

One venue is 94% of it

Chipper added roughly $2.1M on Solana in August, which is 94% of the category's entire Solana increase.

So this is not neobanks collectively discovering a chain. It is one venue's routing decision, large enough to move a category. The other neobanks on Solana moved by a combined $150,000 or so.

That distinction matters for what you should expect next. A structural migration would keep going if Chipper stopped. This one probably would not.

What would make it a trend

Two things, and neither has happened yet:

  • Solana holding the lead for a second and third month without needing a fresh step-change from Chipper.
  • A second neobank putting meaningful volume there. Right now the concentration means the category's chain mix and one company's product decision are the same fact wearing two labels.

We will report both ways. If it reverses in September we will say so here, in the same place we said this.

Method

Attributed stablecoin deposit volume for the neobanks category, split by chain, for the calendar months of December 2025, July 2026 and August 2026. Deposit-side only. Category shares are of neobank volume, not of the whole market. The margin is the arithmetic difference between the Solana and BNB Chain figures for August and is stated because it is small enough that a single large depositor would reverse it.
