cNGN's record transfer volume is four solvers moving inventory

cNGN transfer volume rose 237% to $18.85M, with Base up 606%. Seventy transfers out of 16,535 carry 56.7% of the Base figure: freshly minted cNGN relayed through five or six hops into a yield vault that is HyperFX solver inventory. The week with the most cNGN users on Base this quarter did the least volume.

Chart showing cNGN on Base: 70 transfers carrying 56.7% of the week's $12.49M, set against a scatter of weekly volume versus daily active addresses showing the week with the most users produced the least volume.

cNGN transfer volume was $18,851,802 this week, up 237%. On Base alone it was $12,490,118, up 606%.

Both figures are correct. Neither is a measure of people using cNGN.

Seventy transfers

Base saw 16,535 cNGN transfers this week. Seventy of them — 0.4% — carry $7,086,422, or 56.7% of the volume.

They are not seventy separate events. They are one chain of them, and on 1 September it ran like this:

TimeEventcNGN
13:36mint→ mint signer344.0M
13:38transfermint signer → A344.0M
13:58transferA → B343.8M

14:20transferA → B343.7M
14:20transferB → C343.5M
14:24transferC → ycNGN vault542.3M

One mint of 344M cNGN, walked to a yield vault through five hops — including a hop out and straight back — with every hop counted in full.

Across 1 September, 1,296.8M cNGN was minted in four mints and 1,068.0M landed in the ycNGN vault. The transfers between those two points totalled 4,142.2M. The same money, counted 3.2 times.

Where it was going

The ycNGN vault is HyperFX solver inventory.

HyperFX is a cross-chain intent rail we brought into coverage this week: a business escrows a token on one chain and names what it wants out; an off-chain solver fills it from its own stock on the destination chain. Solvers have to hold inventory to fill anything, and on Base that inventory is cNGN.

In the week of 31 August, HyperFX settled $1,465,8512.01 billion cNGN — across 122 fills from four active fillers. That is 64.5% of everything HyperFX has settled since it launched in June ($2,273,349), in one week. The Monday of that week is the day the mints ran.

So the sequence is: new cNGN issued, relayed into solver inventory, and spent filling a burst of orders. Roughly $1.5M of economic activity produced about $7.1M of counted transfer volume, because a relay is counted at every step and a fill is counted again.

Textile FX and Paycrest, the other two rails now in coverage, are not part of this. Textile did $1,875,229 in African notional this week, but on BNB Chain and Celo — nothing on Base. Paycrest settled $291,212, of which $169,696 was cNGN on Base across 41 orders.

The claim

cNGN's transfer volume and cNGN's users are close to unrelated, and reporting the first as if it were the second is the single easiest way to be wrong about this token.

The evidence is not an argument, it is two rows:

WeekDaily active addressesTransfersVolume
10 August87024,259$655,680
31 August58416,535$12,490,118

Nineteen times the volume, on a third fewer addresses. The week this quarter with the most cNGN users on Base produced the least value moved. Any metric where those two rows point in opposite directions is not measuring adoption.

The objection, and what we would still say

Someone could reasonably answer: solver inventory is real economic activity — a rail that settles $1.5M in a week is doing something, and you are explaining away a genuine milestone.

That is fair, and we are not explaining it away. HyperFX settling two-thirds of its lifetime volume in one week is a real event and we report it as one. The objection we are making is narrower: the number that moved is not the number people will quote. "cNGN transfer volume up 237%" will travel; "four solvers restocked" will not.

There is also a genuine signal underneath, and it is smaller and better. On Base, daily active addresses rose from 417 to 584 and senders from 363 to 526 — up 40% and 45%. Transfer counts rose 73%. That is real growth in participation, it happened in the same week, and it is worth about $5.4M of the $12.49M rather than all of it.

We would rather publish the $5.4M.

Method

cNGN transfer volume and counts on Base for the ISO week of 31 August – 6 September 2026, from the native stablecoin series. Transfer volume only — mints and burns are supply operations and are excluded from it, though they are shown here to trace the origin of the relayed balance. The 70-transfer figure is the count of individually-ranked large transfer events for the week; the remainder is the residual against the full daily series. HyperFX settlement is measured from its own contract state and is a separate series from cNGN transfer volume — the two are related here by inspection of the addresses involved, not by a join. Daily active addresses are distinct addresses observed sending or receiving, averaged across the days in the period.
