Chipper cleared $1,104,595 in attributed retail deposits for the week of 3 to 9 August — the first week it has moved more than a million dollars in 228 weeks of coverage, going back to November 2021.
It has been close once before. In the week of 2 December 2024 it did $999,093 and missed the mark by $907. Then it fell back, and did not come near it again for 87 weeks.
The same week takes third place from Breet, at $898,942.
The rank is the softer of the two facts
Breet has not collapsed to make room. It fell 14.7% this week and remains within $200,000. The ordering could reverse next week without anything meaningful having changed, and we would report that too.
The million is the durable one. Through June, Breet ran four to five times ahead of Chipper:
- 15 June — Breet $871,162, Chipper $214,443
- 6 July — Breet $956,358, Chipper $212,618
- 20 July — Breet $1,049,583, Chipper $758,480
- 3 August — Breet $898,942, Chipper $1,104,595
Chipper's share of everything we measure has gone from 2.2% to 10.2% in ten weeks, and its volume is up 564% over the same period.
What makes the climb worth reporting is not the rank or the round number. It is that Chipper's volume grew more than sixfold while the number of people transacting through it went down — which we've written up separately, because a volume table shows the first half of that and hides the second.
Method
Attributed retail stablecoin deposit volume for Chipper and Breet over the ISO week of 3–9 August 2026, on the same basis as all venues in AfriFlux coverage. Deposit-side only — excludes withdrawals, transfers between venue-controlled addresses, and all off-chain activity. "First in 228 weeks" is measured against Chipper's full weekly series from the week of 1 November 2021, the earliest week in our coverage of it. Rank is by weekly attributed deposit volume across the 14 venues currently in coverage.
